Job Title: Director, Software Development
Job Summary
============
Management position, responsible for the development of all projects for an entire product line to
meet corporate requirements for functionality, quality, schedule and cost. Establishes operational
objectives and assignments and delegates assignments to subordinate personnel. Prepares budg
ets, determines staffing requirements and assigns resources to all projects on the product line. R
esponsible for administrating area policies for employee development planning, performance plan
ning, counseling, and evaluation.
Essential Functions:
====================
* Prepares budgets and staffing plans for the product line which meet corporate requirements.
* Prioritizes, directs and appraises the activities of development managers or project leads and de
velopers.
* Manages development managers or project leads to ensure projects meet corporate schedule a
nd quality goals.
* Determines, justifies and obtains approval for the necessary project resources, including person
nel for all projects in the product line.
* Coordinates with product management, as well as test, documentation and product support man
agement to ensure that the needs of all projects in the product line are met.
* Assists product management by providing technical insight and judgment of feature/schedule/co
st tradeoffs. Ensures that product architecture and technology decisions support corporate strate
gies and future direction of all products in the product line.
* Prioritizes resource allocation for all products in the product line.
* Manages morale of development organization; approves employee performance evaluations an
d development plans; and ensures consistency in all compensation actions for organization.
* Ensures quality hiring practices in product area.
* Interacts with executive management on development issues.
Expectations:
=============
* Proficient English written and verbal skills
* Minimum 5 year work experience with foreign enterprises), preferrably oversea work experience.
* Must have a good understanding of technologies relevant to the product line.
* Must have excellent project management skills and expertise, and be able to mentor managers
and project leads on software development best practices and processes.
* Must be able to communicate with major customers and determine their needs working in conju
nction with product management.
* Must provide excellent leadership and mentoring to the development organization.
* Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
Qualifications:
* Education: Masters in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experience.
* Experience: 12 years experience in the software industry, 5+ years managing technical teams
* Excellent knowledge of C/C++ development in a cross platform environment
* Experience with networking technologies such as TCP/IP, sockets programming, network protoc
ols such as streaming, IM, peer to peer, etc.
* Experience with Internet related security products is preferred
